Early life
Sherawat's birth name is Reema Lamba; she says that she adopted the screen name of "Mallika", meaning "empress" to avoid confusion with other actresses named Reema. "Sherawat" is her mother's maiden name. She has stated that she uses her mother's maiden name because of all the support her mother has provided for her. She has obtained a degree in Indian philosophy from Miranda House, Delhi University. She was married to Captain Karan Singh Gill - Jet Airways pilot and later divorced.
Mallika's onscreen debut was in Lak Tunoo, a music video by Surjit Bindrakhia. She attracted wide notice with her appearance in the 2003 movie Khwahish. In 2004, she starred in Murder, a film inspired by Hollywood's Unfaithful. She received a nomination for Best Actress at the Zee Cine Awards ceremony for her performance in Murder. The film went on to become one of the biggest hits of the year.
Since then, Sherawat has been known for her courage to express her opinions in public, as well as because of the reaction to some of her statements.
She also made news when she won a small role in a Jackie Chan movie, The Myth; she made a widely publicized appearance at the Cannes Film Festival to promote The Myth.
However, her performance in the 2006 film Pyaar Ke Side Effects co-starring Rahul Bose won her praise from around the industry, and the film also garnered decent collections at the box office becoming a moderate success.
She is now beginning to work in the Kollywood (Tamil) film industry as well after her item number in a Kannada film. Her debut was Dasavathaaram, starring Kamal Haasan, Asin, and Jayapradha, in which she plays one of the lead antagonists.
Her first 2007 release was Himesh Reshammiya's Aap Ka Suroor - The Real Love Story, where she played a "vampish role".[7] Mallika herself has protested, saying that it is a negative role but not a vamp role.[7] With Aap Ka Suroor she has become the most expensive "Item Girl",[8] as she charged Rs. 1.5 crore[8] for her Item number in the movie. Aap Ka Suroor did well at the box office. Her last release of 2007 was Welcome which also did well at the box office receiving blockbuster status.[9]
Sherawat has been voted as one of Asia's 100 most beautiful people by the Hong Kong based fashion and beauty magazine, Cover.[10]

Early life
Jaitley was born in Kabul, Afghanistan to a Punjabi Indian father and Afghan mother. [1] Her father, V.K Jaitley, is a retired Indian Army colonel,[2] and her mother, Meeta, was a nurse in the Indian army, as well as an Afghan beauty queen.[2] She has one brother, who is serving in the Indian army.
She grew up in different cities including Lucknow where she did Class XI from City Monetessori school in 2003-2004 and mostly spent her time in Kolkata, India. Jaitley was raised as a Hindu. She has said that when she was young, she wanted to join the army herself, either as a doctor or a pilot. She graduated with a degree in commerce from Indira Gandhi National Open University.[3]
Career
Jaitley was a finalist in the Miss Universe 2001 contest.[3] In addition to her title of Femina Miss India Universe, Celina has won the Miss Margo Beautiful Skin, Indiatimes Surfer's Choice, and MTV's Most Wanted award.
In 2003, she made her debut in the movie industry with Feroz Khan's Janasheen. In 2007 Jaitley flew to New Zealand and shot her first international movie Love Has No Language, a romantic comedy. Whilst there she was targeted by a stalker who had followed her from India. Jaitley was said to be traumatised by the experience.
Jaitley is slated to play the character of an Iranian princess in the film Quest of Sheherzade along with actors Sean Connery and Orlando Bloom. The film is based on Arabian Nights and will be directed by Ken Khan. This will be Celina's first venture into Hollywood. She is also the brand ambassador of Egyptian tourism and D'damas.

Biography
Mitra trained with the Mamata Shankar ballet troupe for 12 years, although she would have chosen a career as a designer if she hadn't become an actress.[citation needed]
She initially gained prominence through winning Gladrags magazine's "Mega Model Contest" in 2002. Mitra’s first break in Bollywood was in an item number in Ram Gopal Verma's Road ("Khullam Khulla"). She also appeared in a Tamil film Dhool with actor Vikram in the title song. Mitra played the lead in Ek Khiladi Ek Haseena.
